ACH 2023

The Association for Computers and the Humanities (ACH) will hold ACH 2023, a virtual conference, from June 29-July 1, 2023.

Registration will open April 19th, 2023.

Registration will close June 22nd, 2023. The registration deadline has been extended through Tuesday, June 27 at 11:59pm EDT.

Registration is now closed.

Presenters are required to register by May 19th, 2023 to allow sufficient time for production of conference materials.

Conference Focus

ACH 2023 is guided by our commitments to equity and justice. The conference recognizes that digital humanities scholarship is inextricably sociopolitical. Therefore, we have chosen to forgo a theme to emphasize the inherent sociopolitical nature of the work and encourage all proposal writers to explicitly address the sociopolitical stakes of their work.

ACH 2023 prioritizes proposals that focus on social justice in multiple contexts: anti-racist work, Indigenous studies, cultural and critical ethnic studies, intersectional feminism, postcolonial and decolonial studies, disability studies, and queer studies.

We also prioritize proposals that explicitly address multilingualism in digital humanities, which is itself a matter of social justice. Examples of topics include: multilingual metadata, linked open data, preservation and dissemination of endangered languages, OCR for non-Latin scripts, methods for right-to-left languages, tools and interfaces for multilingual digital humanities, multilingual pedagogies, and multilingual corpora.

Bursaries

ACH has a limited number of bursaries to cover registration costs for graduate students and contingent/un-/underemployed professionals. In order to be eligible, you must be a member of ACH (if you’re not yet a member, you can join ACH now). Bursary applications are due by May 5, 2023. If you have applied for a bursary, please do not register for the conference until decisions have been made by the ACH Awards Committee. 

How to Register:

1. Click the "Register Now!" link below.
2. Enter your email in the "Email" field.
3. Next to your chosen registration option, put the number of people you'll be registering for the conference, e.g. if registering one person, put "1" as the value.
4. Click "Review."
5. Choose your preferred Payment Option.
6. If choosing Stripe, enter in your card information.
7. If choosing Paypal, click "PayPal Checkout" to log in to Paypal and complete your registration.
8. Both options will results in a "Confirm Your Registration Information" page. Should the information be correct, click "Continue."
9. Save your confirmation page!
